Bored on a Tuesday Night? [May. 27th, 2008|09:40 pm]
Let's Get Together

And you don't want to go out; instead spending your time needlessly perusing the pages of livejournal, myspace, and fark? Well fear not, because here is another internet alternative. The Nightshift Gothic Radio Show makes its revival on WTUL New Orleans, 91.5 FM. Check out the stylings of DJ's Incogneato and Baby Bat, with special guest DJ WrappedInPlastic. Tonight will be one segment symphonic metal, and another a special mixture of varied styles converging in one single night. Tune in, and if you don't live in New Orleans, worry not! You can stream the show online via www.wtulneworleans.com. The show is on from 12 AM to 2 AM. Be sure to tune in.

What else are you going to do tonight?

I am full of fish. [Jan. 17th, 2008|04:32 pm]

Oh. My. Gawd.

All I can say is, St. Charles Japanese Sushi Buffet.

On St Charles and Josephine, at the Carol Condominium building.

Best. Sushi. In. Earth.
No, really.
They will custom roll anything you want if you don't see it there.
Green tea ice cream. Red bean ice cream. Oh and Mango.
Baked salmon rolls so good you'll pardon Hitler. FIVE kinds of steamed crab. FIVE.
Shumai. Marinated squid that melts in your mouth. Sweet potato tempura...
REAL wasabi so spicy you'll slap your mama.
Oh and don't get me started about the baked mussels... just don't.

I Demand that you go eat there, at least for the 11-3 lunch buffet.
If you do not go, you are just not cool anymore.

x-posted places.

Sip 'N' Spin Returns TONIGHT [Oct. 10th, 2006|01:58 pm]
Let's Get Together

Well, technically it never really left, but after the weird ownership battles that cut us out of the night and finally a return by rightful proprietor Jen Powell, Sip 'N' Spin returns to its roots tonight when my buddies and I start DJing again.

From now on, the first Tuesday of every month will be ANTIGRAVITY @ Sip 'N' Spin, where yours truly will play music featured in AG and whatever new (or old) music that may be in my head at that moment. The other weeks will have different themes t.b.a.

Also, the courtyard around back is now open, so I think that's where we'll be DJing from, so you can check that out.

Info for those who don't already know:

Where: Sip Wine Market (3119 Magazine St., next to the Rue @ 9th)
When: 6:30pm-8:30/9pm
What: Wine tasting where you get 6 wines for $10, but you can also grab a bottle or a beer and just hang out, or just listen for free
Web: Sipwinenola.com

See you out!

It will be featured in this October’s festival, however.)

White Linen Night [Aug. 1st, 2006|02:40 pm]
Let's Get Together

[Current Location |work]
[mood |happyhappy]
[music |Fountains of Wayne]

I'm organizing a group outing to White Linen Night next Saturday, if anyone is interested in joining us.

Saturday, August 5th @ 6:30 PM

We will meet in the Warehouse District at 6:30 PM at the corner of Julia & S. Peters Streets (the NW corner in front of the Embassy Suites).

We will peruse the galleries and enjoy the block party. Cash bars and cuisine tables will be set up along Julia Street, and some of the galleries will be serving complimentary wine (while it lasts). You are also welcome to bring your own wine -- but bring a bag to carry any bottles in so you don't get caught with glass on the street. Taking the pouch out of a box of wine actually works great for this occasion! Don't worry about to-go cups - I will bring enough for everyone!

Because everyone may want to enjoy the galleries at their own pace, we will meet back up at our original corner (Julia & S. Peters) at 8:30 PM and choose a destination at which to continue the night (restaurant, bar, etc.).

In the event that White Linen Night is cancelled due to rain on August 5th, we will instead meet at 6:30 PM for drinks upstairs at The Balcony Bar (3201 Magazine St. - between Washington & Louisiana Avenues) and decide on an alternate plan for the evening.

(no subject) [Jul. 20th, 2006|09:01 am]
Let's Get Together

Ever since I came back to town in October, I've had an urgent desire to do something out of character, something outrageous that my professional peers and conservative friends would (outwardly, at least) find despicable.

Any ideas?
